Everything You Need To Know About The State University Of New York At Buffalo

Buffalo Sabres AlumniI went to college at the State University of New York at Buffalo . It is one of the larger colleges in Western New York and on top of offering some demanding academic programs, SUNY at Buffalo also had a lot going on in the way of student life.

Each year the Student Association sponsors several on-campus entertainment programs, but the two largest are the annual Springfest and Fallfest. These are live concerts that feature bands from all over the world. When the weather allows, the events are held outdoors near the columns at Beamus Point. If the weather is turning foul, then the event is moved indoors to either Alumni Arena or the UB Center for the Performing Arts.

The Capen Library and Norton Hall Cafeteria are two primary spots for students to meet during the day. The Capen Library is one of the more comprehensive libraries in Western New York , and it is often used by people outside the university for research projects not associated with the college.

The Norton Hall Cafeteria is located in the middle of the UB Academic Spine which connects the main buildings on the Amherst , NY campus. The cafeteria is a spot where students post for rides home on the holidays, where vendors come to sell items to the students, where the employment fairs are held by visiting corporations and where a small convenience store is located for student needs.

The nightlife off-campus is enough to keep just about any student busy. Within walking distance of the Main Street Campus is two popular bars; PJ Bottoms and Broadway Joe's. Students looking to mingle normally head to PJ Bottoms and students looking for local live music head to Broadway Joe's.

The Main Street Campus is also walking distance to the Buffalo Metro system that can take students anywhere downtown. Some of the more popular places to visit include the bars and clubs on Chippewa Street , the music and art clubs on Allen Street and the live events at HSBC Arena including live concerts and Buffalo Sabres National Hockey League games.

The two more popular dorms at SUNY at Buffalo are the Governor's Complex and Ellicott Complex. Both are located on the Amherst Campus, and both have undergraduate and graduate facilities. The Governor's Complex is a much smaller facility than the Ellicott Complex and tends to house more foreign graduate students. Because of its unique look, Ellicott Complex has earned the nickname "Legoland." Not only is Ellicott Complex a dorm but it also has two restaurants that host live music, a campus radio station and lecture halls.
